Profile
Jeehyeong Khim received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Seoul National University in 1984 and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1994 with the dissertation of “Uncertainty analysis of VOC emissions models for closed landfills and land treatment sites”. Since 1995 he has been at the School of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at Korea University, where he currently is a full professor. He spent the 2001 and 2009 academic year as a visiting professor at The University of Texas at Austin and California Institute of Technology, respectively.
His current research interests are at the advanced oxidation process in water and wastewater treatment. Especially, he tries to integrate the wave energies to chemical based process and develop the optimized multimodal systems. In addition, stabilization process of heavy metals in contaminated soil and mining waste is another research area. The recycle of waste materials and active use of natural materials instead of chemicals are studied. Now, he is receiving the Mid-Career Researcher Program grant funded by Korea Research Foundation. He currently serves as associate editor of the Journal of Contaminant Hydrology.
