    Jung Ho KIM is Professor of Strategic Management and International Business at the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) of Korea University, where he has taught full-time since 1995. He is the author of numerous articles, reviews, reports, and books on strategic mangement, industrial organization, and international business relating to Korean companies.

     

    Dr. Kim served as the Vice President for International Affairs at Korea University from 2019 to 2021. He has previously served as Director of the International Summer School in Korean and Asian Studies (1995 and 1996), Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of GSIS (1997-1998), Director of the Office of International Affairs (1999-2000), and Dean of the Graduate School of International Studies (2005-2006) in addition to teaching full-time. During the 2001 academic year, Professor Kim conducted research at Harvard University (USA) as a Visiting Scholar. During the 2008-2009 school year, he was a Visiting Scholar at Wesleyan University (USA). During his last sabattical term in Spring 2016, he taught as a Visiting Professor at Ritsumeikan University (Japan), after serving as a Guest Professor at the University of Vienna (Austria) through the Non-EU Teaching Mobility Program during Fall Term, 2015.

     

    Prior to joining the faculty of Korea University, he was a Research Fellow and Head of the (State Owned Enterprises) Management Consulting Team at the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade (KIET), an industrial policy think tank sponsored by the Republic of Korea government, for four years. A graduate of Wesleyan University's Math-Economics program (Undergraduate Class of 1985) and Harvard University's Ph.D. Program in Business Economics (Ph.D., 1990), Dr. Kim received numerous academic honors during his academic training, including the Wilde Prize and White Fellowship awards from Wesleyan University, the Korean Honor Scholarship award from the Korean Embassy in Washington D.C., merit-based full scholarship from Harvard University's Ph.D. Program in Business Economics and early selection to Phi Beta Kappa as a junior in college. He is also the recipient of the Suk Top Award for Teaching Excellence in 2010, 2012, and 2013 and the Excellent Lecture Award during 2012-2017 from Korea University.

     

    He serves on the Board of Directors of several academic associations, and has served on the Advisory Boards of KIET and LG Economic Research Institute, and as a management advisor to several private-sector companies.
